This breathtaking 18.48-pound amethyst display piece, considered jewellery grade (the highest grade) due to its crystal quality and colour, is covered with large deep purple crystals. This particular piece is totally polished on the edges.

Amethyst has been prized for centuries due to its luscious colour and inherent beauty. A violet variety of quartz, it is associated with contentment and calmness. Although today amethyst is classified as a semi-precious gemstone, historically, it has been valued en par with diamonds and rubies.

Traditionally, amethyst it is known as the birthstone of February. Interestingly, its name comes from the Ancient Greek "amethustos," meaning not intoxicated. It was believed to protect people from drunkenness!
