This is such a pretty art deco ring.  Set on an 18ct yellow gold band with a raised platinum gallery, this exceptional ring features a stunning light blue, sparkling aquamarine.  The beautifully coloured gemstone measures approx 5mm x 7mm and is surrounded by a halo of 12 very sparkly diamonds.  The full face of the ring measures 1cm x 8mm.  It is fully hallmarked for 18ct Gold, Chester and the year 1926.

The name, 'Aquamarine' is derived from the Latin, 'Water of the sea', which is explained by its wispy sky-blue to deep ocean teal colour palette.  They were also once thought to be the treasure of mermaids.

Aquamarines are much loved and highly sought after.  They are renowned in history for their beautiful colour and were worn as tokens of good luck and fearlessness. They are also the birthstone for March.

The ring is currently a UK size M1/2, which is a USA size 6 1/2 but could be re-sized by your local jeweller.  It weighs 2.63, and is in splendid vintage condition.
